I've uploaded a few railway videos to Youtube over the last two years, and I recall that watching them from Youtube was satisfactory. I'm using the same broadband connection, and the viewing experience can now only be described as "choppy".
Trains which obviously went past me in a smooth fashion are now shown as tending to slow down and catch up with themselves, and sometimes the sound gets detached for a brief period. Netmeter shows the video stream to be downloaded in distinct pieces, and I wonder if others are having the same problem. Could Youtube be applying very heavy compression on their server so as to save storage space? I've only uploaded at a low standard of resolution - nothing at HD yet.
